Last weekend, my two oldest daughters finished a five mile Walk to Cure Cancer in memory of their grandfathers- both of whom quickly deteriorated and passed away after being diagnosed with cancer (lung and pancreatic) in their early fifties, only a year and a half apart from each other. Needless to say, these were huge losses in my daughters' lives and I was so proud of them (and my sister) for turning their pain into positive energy as they joined the fight to find a cure for cancer.
(on their way to the walk)
As we all know, October is breast cancer awareness month and I am urging everyone to take a minute and do something- because it's time to find a cure.

Heidi- thanks and I *heart* your contest. :)
How great that they wanted to do this for their grandfathers. That is so sweet! And it's a good life lesson that we can't just sit around and hope that something gets done, we have to take action!
So true Steph!
It also gives my littles hope as their grandfather (and my bigs' stepgrandfather) is a melanoma survivor and frequently ungoing check-ups and biopsies.
GOOD for your girls!! Making a difference already at such a young age!! You should be so very proud MA!! xo.
Good for you to encourage them at such a young age. They will grow up to be caring citizens who volunteer and give back. That is awesome.
Great job girls!
That's awesome your girls did this!
My grandpa just got diagnosed with lung cancer. And I have lost many other people close to me from cancer.
Way to go!
