fever... fun?!??

Today is Day 3 of fevers over 102 degrees for Shaye and Mackenna. I prescribed lots of rest, wet face cloths on their foreheads and lots of fluid. But being stuck in bed (or even on the playroom futon) is not fun for my girls and they are starting to get crabby and restless. In the meantime, Home Depot finally sent someone to take a look at my broken freezer (the one that stopped working last Thursday) yesterday and, after tinkering a bit with it, he proclaimed it "fixed". He then instructed me to place two containers- half filled with water- in the freezer and make sure they froze solid before trusting it with any food. This morning, I checked and they were frozen. Great. And my girls were pretty miserable. Not so great. LIGHTBULB! "Who wants to take a tub and let your dolls have an adventure at North Pole?" I asked the girls- one a huge penguin fan, the other a lover of all things ocean- particularly whales and dolphins. So the girls and their dolls splashed around in a tub in the Artic Ocean with two huge floating "iceburgs". The girls aren't cured, but they are better.

When freezers go through their defrosting cycle and there isn't enough frozen stuff inside to hold the temperature, it can give the impression of the freezer being broken. I would keep those "icebergs" in the freezer if you want to keep it in working order. My sister just went through the same thing with her stand alone freezer because it wasn't full enough and everything they DID have in there thawed when the freezer defrosted. Now they have the empty spaces filled with frozen water bottles. :)

Hope the littles feel better soon. I know all too well how that goes. Prayers for speedy recoveries.
Oh, and super kudos for the iceberg idea! That is so cool.
