The rainy start to last week inspired Shaye to try some "rain" activities out of her Nature & Science for girls ages 6-11 workbook (Girl Scouts, $3.50) ...
rainmaker:
Fill a drinking glass* with ice cubes and patiently observe. "Rain" will form on the glass. Record your observations. Think about why this happens.
*Since we only had 4 ice cubes left in the freezer, we took creative license with our drinking glass. I can only imagine what the school board will think when they look over her observational sketch and see a tall, thin "drinking glass" with a stem. ;)
Observe a spiderweb after the rain (makes the details more visible. Create your own web using yarn and a metal hanger.

You guys are just going hog wild with all the Girl Scout stuff, aren't you? Fun!!!
Yes! The books are so inexpensive- and have so many great hands on ides for 1,2, and 3rd grade curriculums- it's unbelievable. And we already have on hand almost everything we need for everything, so must days the girls can just open the book and go to it. A great resource to have!
Boy, do I wish comments had spell scheck- I type too fast and hit publish before spell checking... then if I reread my comments- half the time they are cringe worthy. Especially for a homeschooling mom. ;)
You guys do the coolest projects!
