before and after:
teen girls' room

BEFORE (MLS LISTING PHOTOS) :

AND AFTER:

Not quite the neon paint splashes in their inspiration photo, but they love it! It took a while to come up with pairing this blue with the zebra and hot pink. I started with the idea of turquoise but they thought it would look too "tween-ish", which after doing their little sisters' room- I would have to agree. I saw this color blue on a metallic throw pillow and - bam!- inspiration. And the zebra print was a little easier to find/work with than paint splatters. FUTURE PLANS INCLUDE: Window treatments, something over their beds, something over the newly painted black bureau that used to be mine. Well, technically, it used to be my grandparents- and someday the complete set will be restored to it's former maple glory (because they sure don't make 'em like they used to!) but for now, the one piece is working for us here and the rest of the set is being stored.

I think I nailed the "more punk than pretty" request.

What do you think?

i must say the mls pictures certainly have the beige and boring thing COVERED.
that is a really pretty blue. i know for me, it's easier (and less labor down the road) to decorate with fabrics, accesories, etc to show your teens taste than to paint that way. that's a color that will translate to post-teen pretty easily!
sure beats the boring blah pre-shot!!

Awesome! I love it!

Man, you have been busy!

All that painting - are you about painted out? I know I painted just the boys' room last month and I was ready to be done - after just one room!

Thank you and YES! We painted most rooms ... twice. (Except the upstairs bath took 4 coats - 2 primer, 2 paint). We did it empty and most of it in one weekend- nonstop! While it was exhausting, it was well worth it to get it all done. Now I just have the fun part of all the finishing touches to do. In the future, I will redo the guest room, but it was fine for now- ditto for the second full bath. The laundry/mud room was left as is BUT I have BIG plans for it- I'm just waiting to get the ambition to break out the paint again...

THAT is fun! I had a similar wall color when I was a teen, but would have loved the pink and zebra.

Oh wow! I love this. I'm a huge fan of zebra print, but I've always thought that it looked, for lack of a better word, "too tween-ish." The darker blue really does cancel that out nicely. You did a great job with it! I'll bet she loved it. :)
