true unschooling doesn't end

when you stop "home"schooling.

I woke up Thursday morning to this...

Seems Gianna left her (10th grade) History book in the guest room the night before

and the littles were reading it and making "fact sheets":

Mackenna copied a caption that talked of Amherst College freshmen from Massachusetts hoeing a field somewhere...  and look at her detailed illustration!

Giving merit to both the unschooling theory

Mornings like this make me really miss homeschooling.

I read your links about unschooling- very interesting! I'd actually never heard of it until the last few months and then I learned of it via bloggyland.

I love your new header. My friend is supposed to be making me mine, but I'm still waiting. Plus, I haven't found the images that I want. She's designing them. But, I'm getting impatient! Anyway, that's why I haven't taken you up on your offer, that I normally would have jumped on!

I think that we have similar feelings on what school at home feels like! I love unit studies more than any approach and most enjoyed our time spent in learning about the things the kids were most interested in. We're changing our focus this spring but I'm going to miss the laid-back, crafty, never-know-what's-coming-next unschooly approach to home school!

Smart little ones you have :) Why did you have to stop homeschooling?

31 Everything. Good question. I wrote about it here:

My whole journey with my girls' education has been giving them what they need when they need it.

See the process in these posts:

Can I just say, I love your header! Such fun... and thanks for this post! I love reading how current & former homechoolers feel about it. Its inspiring and intimidating, and honest!

Thanks Starr Family- I am having fun creating blog headers and I am in love with this one that I made for myself. :)

That's just wonderful, and I love the current header. How old are the littles?

Shaye is almost 8 and Mackenna is 5 and 1/2. But since the older girls are 15 and 1/2 and 12 and 1/2 - these two will always be the littles. ;)

I love your thoughts about homeschooling/unschooling! My children are not school age yet, but I'm always thinking about the future.

Welcome to SITS! We're happy to have you with us!

That is so sweet and something that my son would totally do. In fact he does. I gets my old nursing text books and copies thing out of there. :)

Stopped by from SITS.
