The Last Day of Summer Vacation

This morning, our weather is influenced
by the remnants of Hurricane Katrina,
and
our hearts are filled with prayers
for the victims of this terrible storm.
We began to talk about ways we can help,
as we watched, in horror,
the scenes of damage and destruction,
down South, on the morning news.

After breakfast,
Brielle and Shaye
estimated how much rain we were going to get,
from 9:30 a.m. on,
and set containers out to measure later.

(it was very important to find the perfect spot)

Later in the morning,
Mack gave us a preview
of what's to come tomorrow...

then,
Brielle worked on her Summer reading project,
due Friday,

While Gianna curled up in the parlor,
with a book she's reading for the love of it.
(She finished her Summer reading list,
and 2 reports, in the beginning of July.)
~
Today we savor the last unhurried moments of vacation.
