afternoon fun {paper ghost garlands}

Yesterday afternoon I put a roast, potatoes, and veggies into the oven for dinner and then spent the afternoon out on the deck with all four girls- playing silly games like TELEPHONE and Simon Says... , while John mowed the lawn.  Afterwards, I was searching the internet for fun Fall activities and stumbled upon a post about paper ghost garlands and we(Brielle, Shaye, Mackenna, and I) had to do it immediately.  We used wax paper, because that's what I had around...

Happy Friday!

Everyone should have a mother-in-law who does things like surprise them with a Fall centerpiece and a container of shrimp creole{both of which she made from scratch!} - don't ya think?!

Thanks Pat!

little changes and additions around the house

While I haven't gotten around to any of the creative and larger projects floating around in my head, John and I have managed to tweak and add a few things to the house since we moved in.  First off, our upstairs' bathroom sink was leaking.  Yeah!  Yeah?!  Yes, yeah!, because it allowed me to convince John that rather than fix the leak, we should just go ahead and change out the faucet!  Ta~da...

{brushing teeth was never such fun!}

And John had to get this up in  mantown in time for the start of football season...

Go PATS!

We also got around to putting the guest (AKA the bed and some of the bedding!) into our guest/computer room...

This picture should actually be a  "before" though,
because I have a cool idea for the headboard!

And last, but not least, go check out what I did to our front door!

update your front door- it takes less time and money than you think!

Our house is white with black shutters.

This was our front door before...

Very common. Uninspired. Barely there.

So, I painted it black.
With two coats of exterior paint...

It was still missing "something".

I was very inspired by several doors I've seen online that had "No. (your number(s) here)" painted on them.  However, making a stencil, buying white exterior paint and painting it out seemed, well, like a lot of work.  So I procrastinated a bit.  Online.  And found a post about personalized home address decals at Our Suburban Cottage. AnNicole was giving one away there- but I couldn't wait, so I ordered one myself ...

at Xpres Urself - for only $6.00!  I had it ordered, paid for and on my door in just 5 days!  Applying it took just 15 minutes. And the result is a banging front door - if I do say so myself.

Now for a wreath...

the unpink ladies

soccer starts this week.

I never thought I'd be saying that.  Soccer is not my thing.  I would say I don't like it, but that feeling comes from knowing nothing at all about the sport.  And not having any interest to learn.  I was lucky enough to not have any girls who wanted to play.  Until now.  Shaye and Mackie are both signed up in a Fall youth league.  They've been kicking the ball around in the back yard and are both excited to start practicing with their teams.  I'm not so excited, but I'm open to trying anything at least once.  So I'll be on the sidelines this Fall, cheering on these two rugrats...

I must admit, the little shin pads and cleats are the cutest things EVER.

And I have a feeling...

 they'll be sleeping good at night, at least.
