This is so NOT like the blizzard of '78

Despite all of the media hype and attention given to this weekend's "storm" over the previous few days...

We are not exactly snowed in,

like we expected ourselves to be.

However, we have still bunkered down,

playing on the Wii for hours...

and yet,

I still can't manage to finish higher than 12th in MarioKart,

but at least now I'm finishing.

John has a Kielbasa dinner cooking in the crockpot

and we are snacking on mini quiche.

I couldn't ask for a better Saturday.

It sounds good fun, and could be enhanced only perhaps by pretending you had a power cut and getting out the candles and hot brandies for flickering cosiness.

So much better that you aren't actually snowed in! We can't find our mario kart for wii. I love to play, though I ended up going in the wrong direction several times when I first learning how to play.

Sounds like you are turning some bad weather into a fun family time. Nothing better than a positive attitude and some good food to keep everyone happy. The added distraction of the wii helps too! We got wii fit and I have been hula hooping. My poor sides and bum muscles are in agony! I hope your Kielbasa dinner is delicious.

I can't think of a better excuse to stay home, play on the wii and have nice time with the family...A snow storm sounds fab - the closest we get is a sand one!

The media always makes things sound worse than what they really are. I think that they would like us to think that the world could come to an end at any moment! :)
I do love me a good storm! We used to live on the Oregon coast, and we had some huge wind storms and floods there almost every year. We live in the desert now, and sometimes I miss the big rain storms. We did get some snow here, but only about an inch or so. But it sure is pretty!
Hope you have a great day, and Happy New Year! Beth.

That sounds like a nice Saturday to me. I like playing vintage games on the Wii like old school Nintendo games. :D

I need a wii. I need to see what it's all about. I <3 all things Mario. I would love to have an old school Nintendo system again. Those were so fun!

Hope your Sunday is as good as your Saturday was! :)

Haha, I also finish 12th at MarioKart. I'm pretty bad at it.

Stopping by from SITS.

I was feeling bad because even my 5yo beats me, but now I see i'm not alone. ;)

The last time I played video games was in my "rec room" on my Atari system, and I was the neighborhood "Pitfall" and "Frogger" champ!!

Stopping in from SITS and I love the photos. We NEVER get snow where we live :( It looks so wonderful! Although it is quite cold here and there is a forecast of "flurries" for us tonight...we're excited!

I wish we had snow...last year we had 3 weeks of it. Not typical of our area though. We have been seeing a light drizzle of rain today. Enjoy the snow...I love how it makes it look pretty!

My hubby is playing XBOX as I visit my favorite blogs! Kids are probably messing up the front room since I just cleaned it today.

Popping in from SITS. That sounds like a positively perfect night! I lose on all the Wii games too... Someday I will be cooler.

My sister is having her first baby girl in a couple of months and she has banned all of us from buying it any pink clothing... : )

i lived in boston during that blizzard. it killed my dad's secretary. (she got stuck in her car on the freeway and died of carbon monoxide poisoning). i was in the hospital in boston (back surgery. i was 16) and had to get a letter from the governor to be allowed to go home (no cars allowed in the city). i remember laying in the back seat and it looked like we were driving in a huge white tunnel. the snow banks were ridiculous.
that was some crazy snow.
wouldn't want to be snowed in for days back then, but now with a wii, i could be stranded for WEEKS!! i love my wii and have a love/hate relationship with the wii fit.
