friday fragments

don't go checking your calendar or refilling your coffee,
it is only Wednesday.

however, i have lots of random thoughts today,

so i though i'd get a jump on it.

  1. i finally created a new header that i am happy with. i think. for now anyways.  almost 24 four hours and four blog headers, posted then pulled, later.  whew.  i deserve a piece of cake for that. be right back....

  1. apparently i've been gone so long, the list made me start back at one.
  2. shaye's GI doctor suggested that gluten-free products might be eaiser on her digestive system because of her fructose intolerence.  looking at the ingredients, i don't see the connection, but hey, my MIL found a  Betty Crocker line of gluten free mixes that include chocolate chip cookies and devil's food cake, so it's worth a try right? (thanks pat!)
  3. i must admit, i was a little leary when i made the cake mix and it looked more like chocolate milk than cae mix and filled my round cake pan to the rim.
  4. the results? a very dense and moist cake and none of the girls noticed a difference. (i didn't tell them ahead of time, so they wouldn't be prejudiced in their opinions.)
  5. my only complaint? value, of course.  one (kind of expensive) box makes just one round layer (or 12 cupcakes.)  but i suppose if it helps shaye enjoy treats without pain, it's priceless!

  1. i like starting back at one for new subject matter, it appeases the ocd  organizer in me.

  1. it is wonderfully warm this week in our town.  40's! some days making into the 50's! this is sweatshirt weather for us new englanders, and i couldn't be happier.
  2. oh, yes, i can. saturday, we turn the clocks forward - more sunlight - hooray!!

  1. the Trendy Owl, where i bought our spring headbands? they are selling the cutest notecards now too.  i ordered two thank you cards like 2, maybe 3, days ago. did i mention how fast she ships?  i'll probably get them today!

  1. i can't believe season 4 of Big Love is already over.  just when it was getting good, i mean they are OUT now!!  can't wait until season 5.

  1. i'm already rethinking this new header.  do you think it looks cluttered?  i'd love some feedback.
  2. would you like a new header? for free? i love making these things, and maybe if i had yours to focus on, i could let mine be for a bit.

what's on your mind today?

Oh, Big Love...I HATE how short the seasons are. And how they ended it?! The silence was deafening. So good!!!

I love the header. Not sure if its the new one or old one but I think its simple and uncluttered.

Not cluttered at all, I love it!
Those GF cake mixes are great. The brownie one needs a little tweaking, but it is still chocolate and you can't go wrong there.

I like the new header too. Very pretty colors (that are *not* pink - lol). I guess the only thing I'm wondering about is the jars picture. I get that it has a pretty blue jar in it. Love mason jars! But are you a big "jar fan"? I think I remember seeing pics of your kids wearing those types of shoes in pic #3 (can't remember what they're called). And then for pic #4, I know you adore clothespins, so that one works.

Good luck on the gluten free thing. My sister had to do that for a while with her son, so I know it's difficult and expensive. I've seen those BC mixes in the supermarket as well. It's nice to know they taste good.

No, Dawn, you are right. I like them, but don't LOVVVE them. However, Brielle does and this header is inspired by her this month- those pics are her- her hands, her black converse - and she has collected and filled a row of mason jars in her room with various collections- shark teeth, yellow things, marbles. I just added a touch of aqua to "go" with the collage.
The clothespins, you're right again, are all me. I'm obsessed. :)

thanks for the input/reflections on my header- I appreciate all feedback.

The header is great... what program did you use to create it? I'm debating getting a blog design re-do but not sure if I can figure something out myself or need to pay someone to do it for me. Loving your blog!

I like your new blog banner as well :) Very "unpink"! I'm watching "Aviator" right now with my husband - his fav movie. I like it as well :)

You can redo my header anytime you want if you just really want to! : )

Oooh, I think maybe you might have had a little crazy moment there, offering to do headers...but if you have any ideas for mine...I would love to hear them. I'm worried my whole page is looking too busy. Would love your advice.

Love the header and the beautifully understated design:)

I'm glad I'm not the only one who redoes there header repeatedly. I get quite obsessive with my entire blog... moving, rearranging, changing. I'll go for about a month of mayhem, relax for a month or two and then start all over again. I have issues.
Thanks for stopping by Leftovers!
Love your blog!

I LOVE the header and the look of your page in general, as it is nice and clean. I hope to plan a new page at some point this summer, but in the meantime, I'm too lazy to think about it. As you might have noticed, I love pics in headers, though...I might get impatient and see if your offer still stands down the road :)

I don't know what I'd do if I had to avoid gluten! (probably die of starvation)

It's crazy-warm here, too. 52 tomorrow in Wisconsin? Insane! (and wonderful)
